Barre is the home of two middle and elementary schools, Barre Town Middle and Elementary School and City of Barre Middle and Elementary School, and Spaulding High School (SHS). These institutions are known for their dedicated faculties and favorable student to teacher ratios. SHS is one of the most-endowed schools in New England and annually offers over 50 scholarships to its graduating seniors for post-secondary education and opportunities.

For vocational education, the Central Vermont Career Center offers training in 14 different trade programs from Automotive Tech to Baking Arts to Medical Professions.

Barre is also home to two excellent private schools – a Vermont 5-star rated Pre-Kindergarten through Elementary provider, the Montessori School of Central Vermont, and an elementary school, St. Monica-St. Michael Catholic School.
