About BADC
Goals
- To promote and sustain economic development in Barre City and Town.
- To help implement the goals of the economic development plans of the two municipalities, as described in the Barre City Economic Action Plan and the Barre Town Economic Development Plan.
- To work with the Barre Partnership (for Downtown Barre City) to provide business recruitment for business attraction and retention and to focus on these same aspirations for all of the Barre area.
- To coordinate economic development services among various local, State and Federal agencies and organizations that impact economic development in Barre.
- To act as a confidential point of contact for anyone who needs information or support regarding economic development in the municipalities.
- To develop and work with funding sources to assist and sustain business in Barre, Vermont.
- To updating space inventory listings for both municipalities.
Services
- Assist local business owners and their respective organizations by providing or arranging business advisory services, owner/executive coaching, operational evaluation, financial analysis, employee training and other areas that will enable existing businesses to improve their success, including profitability.
- Serve as a point of contact for those requiring information or needing support regarding economic development in Barre, Vermont.
- Confidential liaison when assisting existing and potential new businesses with expansion, relocation and financing plans.
- Manage or oversee BADC owned or controlled property.
- Actively seek buyers or leasees for BADC owned property and other commercial and industrial property in the two municipalities.
- Contribute to other business development efforts and communications, for example, the Downtown Revitalization effort.
- Assist municipalities in preparing applications and implementing any economic development grants, revolving loan funds or other funding mechanism that may be obtained or established.
- Work with and act as a liaison among the various economic development organizations, including the Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation (CVEDC), Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce, regional and local planning commissions, state agencies of commerce, etc.
